April Release Special Notice
For the month of April, Blackthorn plans to make its major release available in 2 Parts:
Part 1: Critical fixes across the app suite, plus Payments and Messaging enhancements. This release is recommended for non-Events customers, plus Events customers who are affected by the critical bugs that are fixed.
Part 2: Events enhancements only. Pending end-to-end tests, this release will include significant architectural improvements to caching and capacity management. Caching enhancements will resolve the most common issues that cause conflicts between the data in Salesforce and the data displayed on the Events webapp. Capacity management enhancements will prevent the most common scenarios that cause tickets and sessions to oversell.
Part 2 will include all updates included in Part 1. If you are an Events customer and your organization is not affected by the following critical bug, we recommend you wait until Part 2 to upgrade:
Payment processing fee conflicts with discount
April Release Notes
Blackthorn Events
- Experience Cloud Update | ‘Add Myself’ Bug Fix: If a user is logged into the Experience Cloud and Disable Requirement to Add Myself = “False” (unchecked), then the user can either add their own Ticket with the quantity selector or click the Add Myself button before clicking Register. Previously, the Experience Cloud user could not register for an Event by using the ticket quantity selector and clicking Register. They had to use the Add Myself button. (Known Issue: 000003215)
- Off-Cycle Base Package Release: The Base package Contact Trigger (bt_base__ContactTrigger) feature is still in development and has been turned off until a feature-flagged toggle can be added. This update will not impact existing functionality. Users can now delete Contact records without causing a permissions-related error.
- IN PROGRESS | Tax/GST Support (Nonfunctional New Field): The new Tax Fee field on the Event object is part of the ongoing development for the Tax/GST feature. This update is related to the foundational development of the feature and is not functional.
- When a user creates or edits an Event with the default Fee’s Type set to “Tax”, then the Event’s new Tax Fee field will be populated with the default tax fee. (The picklist value “Tax” was added to the Fee’s Type field.)
- Field Label: Tax Fee
- API Name: Tax_Fee__c
- Description: The Fee record used for Event tax calculations. The tax is applied to the total amount after discounts and before payment processing fees.
- When a user creates or edits an Event with the default Fee’s Type set to “Tax”, then the Event’s new Tax Fee field will be populated with the default tax fee. (The picklist value “Tax” was added to the Fee’s Type field.)
For more information on these enhancements and a full list of bug fixes, please click the Events Release Notes button.
Blackthorn Payments
- SALESFORCE KNOWN ISSUE | Enable Secure Static Resources for Lightning Components: This Salesforce release update has been postponed indefinitely. Test Run on this Release Update should remain disabled in order to use our Virtual Terminal components. This is due to a Salesforce Known Issue.
- Spreedly Update for Payment Methods: A valid Payment Method can now be removed from a Spreedly gateway using the Salesforce UI. An error message will be displayed when a user tries to remove a Payment Method that was already deleted. Previously, when a user tried to remove a Payment Method, the process wasn’t successful. (Known Issue: 000003046).
- Payment Processing Fees & Discounts: If a Payment Processing Fee is applied to a paid Event and a discount Code less than 100% off is applied to the Event Item, the following will occur. The related discount Line Item and calculations will be correctly reflected on the Invoice, and the Attendee will be charged the correct amount. Previously, Attendees saw the correct amount due, but they were charged the full amount during checkout. (Known Issue: 000003499).
For more information on these enhancements and a full list of bug fixes, please click the Payments Release Notes button.
Blackthorn Messaging
- ISSUE: Twilio No Longer Supports DUNS Numbers:
- Description: Users who set the Business Register Type to a DUNS number on the Business Entity Information form could not complete the A2P registration process.
- Resolution: The DUNS option in the Business Register Type field was removed because Twilio no longer supports DUNS numbers. In the future, the Business Register Type options will be updated dynamically when Twilio makes changes.
- ISSUE: After-hours Message Function Not Working:
- Description: The after-hours message function would not send messages even though the incoming and outgoing messages worked correctly for the number.
- Resolution: An update during the Salesforce maintenance release caused an issue related to Apex Class versioning. Updating the Apex Class version resolved the issue. Customers can now receive messages from the After Hour response message feature.

Blackthorn Customer Support Notes
Introducing Blackthorn’s New Dedicated Support
Blackthorn Support is implementing some major changes to revamp customer service while providing the highest level of quality with every customer interaction. As part of these changes, we are introducing our new Dedicated Support Structure for Premier Support Customers.
The goal for this new dedicated support structure is to provide the highest level of quality while tackling some of the largest pain points we hear from customers on our existing support process:
- Too many support engineers working a case
- No way to reach support by phone for major issues or system outages
- Too much back and forth with support, and cases taking too long for resolution
Premier Support Customers will now have a named Customer Support Engineer, who will serve as their main point of contact for all support tickets. If you are on Premier Support, you should be receiving an introduction email (if not already) including your named Customer Support Engineer in the near future.
Introducing Blackthorn’s New ‘Urgent/System Impaired’ Support Number
As part of our new Dedicated Support Structure, Blackthorn Support is happy to announce the launch of urgent phone support for ‘system impaired’ issues for Premier Support Customers.
If your team needs urgent support for ‘system impaired’ issues, please call the number found here corresponding to your region. *Please note you must be logged into our community to view.
If are interested learning more on our new Dedicated Support Structure and/or System Impaired Phone Number and not currently on Premier Support, please contact our Customer Success team at: success@blackthorn.io.

Blackthorn Customer Support Notes
Relaxed Follow-up SLAs – Enhancing the Quality of Support Interactions (Now Live!)
Blackthorn Support has extended our follow-up response SLAs to improve the quality of interactions and help prioritize high-priority and system-impaired cases. The new relaxed secondary response SLAs will help lower the number of comments and interactions the Support Team handles per case (a highly noted pain point for customers). This will give the team more time to provide higher quality, thorough, and actionable responses with lower SLA pressure on lower-priority cases.
Initial Response Times + System Impaired/Outage SLAs will not change. Also, response times are found on our website here.
New Follow-up Response SLAs
- Low/Medium Priority – 24 clock hours
- High – 12 clock hours
Independent of each customer’s location, our support team is available 24 hours, five days a week. We will ensure your team receives a high-quality and actionable response focused unblocking your team ASAP with as limited back and forth as possible.
Escalation Button for Cases in the Blackthorn Community now Includes the Ability to Request Phone Support
For all customers, there is an “Escalate” button in the top right corner of Cases. This feature will route cases to relevant teams in real-time and eliminate multiple steps of the process. Instead of directly contacting your CSM or Blackthorn Executive Sponsor, copying comments into cases, etc., the “Escalate” button will serve the same purpose. It will alert relevant parties within Customer Success and Support while simultaneously flagging the case for review by the Escalation Team, who will follow up with the next steps and action items. This button also includes the ability to request phone support for customers with Premier Support.
Customer Community Winter Engagement Contest Winner: Michael Babino (UCHealth)

As a thank you for having the highest community engagement this last quarter, we will send you a $150 Amazon GC & Swag. This also includes a Community User Badge for “Highest Quarterly Engagement” which has already been assigned to your user in our community!

January 2024 Newsletter
Key Notes Blackthorn Storefront is now available with Experience Cloud and our new Lightning Web Component (LWC) release! Layout updates are required for Events with the release of the new Alternative Text for Visual… More
Layout Updates Required due to the Accessibility Update
As of the December release, each image URL is accompanied by an Alternative Text for Visual Impairment field. These new fields serve as descriptions of the image so that visually impaired users can have a more supported experience when browsing an event webpage. This improves inclusivity and ensures that our event organizers maintain compliance with disability laws and protections.
The new fields must be added to your page layout. When you add or update an image in the Wizard or Builder, a validation rule will block you from saving that record until the alternative text is added. This validation ensures that accessibility is seamlessly integrated into the content creation process.
Please note a known bug with the Wizard, which will not allow you to save your event with sponsor, speaker, or session images due to a conflict with the validation rule. Our team is working on a fix. If your organization uses the Wizard, we suggest you try out our Builder instead or wait until our February release, which contains the fix.

- The Solution Id field will be populated with Blackthorn’s partner ID when Payments is installed/upgraded in production. A test value will be used in an Authorize.net sandbox. If a sandbox is created from production, the production value will be updated to the test value.
- Once the Solution Id is populated, it will be included any time Blackthorn sends data to Authorize.net. If the Solution Id is not available, the data will be sent without the Transaction source information.
- Mobile Payments Update | Android App: Users will see a confirmation message stating that an email receipt was sent after manually entering a card payment. Previously, the confirmation message was not visible.
- Mobile Payments Update | Android App: Users will see a lock icon next to the Contact and Account fields on an existing Transaction, indicating that they cannot edit those fields. Previously, users could edit the Contact and Account fields on an existing Transaction from the Mobile Payments FSL app, causing duplicate Payment Gateway Customer records to be created.

Blackthorn Customer Support Notes
Starting in February, Blackthorn Support will be extending our follow-up response SLAs to improve the quality of interactions and help better prioritize high-priority and system-impaired cases. These new relaxed secondary response SLAs will help lower the number of comments and interactions the Support Team handles per case (a highly noted pain point for customers), giving the team more time to provide higher quality, thorough, and actionable responses with lower SLA pressure on lower-priority cases.
Initial Response Times + System Impaired/Outage SLAs will not change and response times are found on our website here.
New Follow-up Response SLAs
- Low/Medium Priority – 24 clock hours
- High – 12 clock hours
Regardless of where each customer is located, our support team is available 24 hours, 5 days a week and will ensure your team receives a high quality and truly actionable response focused on getting your team unblocked asap with as limited back and forth as possible.

Blackthorn Events
- Event Builder Enhancement: Event Builder users can now configure and manage emails from within the Event Builder when editing existing Events. The “Emails” section was added to the left-side navigation under Attendees. Note: When the Event Builder is used to create a new Event, the “Emails” tab will be hidden. The “Emails” page includes the following components and functionality. For more information on how to use this function, please refer to the full release notes.
- Recurring Events Enhancement: When using the Recurring Events feature, a new Event will be generated when there are no more Events with Status = “Active” in the Recurring Event series. Previously, when Recurring Method = “Keep One Open,” multiple Events were generated according to the Count field instead of creating one more active Event based on the schedule. For more information on how to use this function, please refer to the full release notes.
- Zoom Integration Update: When an Event or Session’s Zoom Registration Approval Type field is set to “Manually Approve Registration” or “Automatically Approve Registration,” Attendees/Session Attendees can click their AttendeeLink to join as participants. If the Session Attendee’s Webinar/Meeting Join URL field is blank, the webapp will use the Session’s Webinar/Meeting URL, ensuring Session Attendees have the correct access. Previously, Attendees were incorrectly added to Zoom meetings as hosts.

- The date the Transaction was processed will be stored in the Processed Date field.

June Release Notes
Blackthorn Events
- BREAKING CHANGE: As of June 2024, Blackthorn no longer supports using Internet Explorer (IE) with the Events app. Microsoft officially stopped supporting IE in June 2022 and recommends using Edge (configured in IE Mode if necessary).
- Enhancement | Translatable Post-Event Surveys/Questions: Post-Event Surveys/Questions can now be translated. However, please note the following:
- Default values, picklist values, and big list values will not be translated to accommodate custom flows and logic.
- Since Post-Event Questions can work independently from Events/Event Settings, they are not impacted by the Event Settings’ Source Language and Target Language fields. Instead, the questions will be written in the language set by the org’s locale.
- IN PROGRESS | Advanced Visibility: We are alerting you to new objects and fields being deployed with the June release related to the foundational development of a new feature, but are currently not functional. The new Advanced Visibility feature will be for organizations using an Experience Cloud site who want to exhibit granular visibility controls. The new objects are called BT Rule, BT Rule Condition, and Blackthorn Base Settings.
For more information on these enhancements and a full list of bug fixes, please click the Events Release Notes button.

- SALESFORCE KNOWN ISSUE | Enable Secure Static Resources for Lightning Components: This is a Salesforce Release Update that has been postponed indefinitely. Test Run on this Release Update should remain disabled in order to use our Virtual Terminal components. This is due to a Salesforce Known Issue.
- DocumentLink Enhancement | NEW FIELD on Invoice: The Invoice record has a new field called Dynamic Fee Name. The field is populated when an Invoice related to an Event with an associated tax Fee is created or updated. The field’s value will then be used in DocumentLink’s Invoice to override the Tax column’s label. This update is related to the foundational development of the Tax/GST feature and is not functional.
- Field Label: Dynamic Fee Name
- API Name: bt_stripe__Dynamic_Fee_Name__c
- Data Type: Text
- Description: The name of the label used to display the tax Fee on an Invoice. For Events, it is the Fee Name of the Fee associated with the Event.
- PayLink Enhancement | Translation & Data Dictionary: Users can now translate button labels and other static text on PayLinks. The Data Dictionary provides multilingual support, allowing Admins to establish a default language that serves as the primary language for all users. Admins can also override the default language and customize users’ language experiences when specific predefined criteria are met.
- Mobile App (iOS) Enhancements: Multiple Enhancements and Bug Fixes have been deployed with the June release, and here are a few highlights:
- Blackthorn iOS Mobile FSL app users will now see the following message in the Blackthorn Logs, “Something went wrong. Please return to the Field Service app, refresh the record, then try again.” Previously, users received this message,
“invalid ID field: {!btfslmobileext__Open_Charge_Record_Id__c),”
causing confusion. - iOS Mobile Payments app users can now use the Blackthorn Payments | Mobile Settings custom setting Skip Receipt Screen to determine if the last screen will show the option to send a receipt.
- If Skip Receipt Screen = “True” (checked), the last screen won’t show the option to send a receipt.
- If Skip Receipt Screen = “False” (unchecked), the last screen will show the option to send the receipt.
For more information on these enhancements and a full list of bug fixes, please click the Payments Release Notes button.
- Blackthorn iOS Mobile FSL app users will now see the following message in the Blackthorn Logs, “Something went wrong. Please return to the Field Service app, refresh the record, then try again.” Previously, users received this message,
Blackthorn Messaging
- Bug Fix | “Uncaught Object Error” on Bulk SMS Campaign Page:
- Description: Previously, when a user tried to send bulk SMS from a campaign record, they received the following error. Also, when they clicked Done, the screen did not update.
"Uncaught # throws at https://xxxxxxxxxxxx--simplesms.vf.force.com/auraFW/javascript/VXZJYkJtTFAtX2RjOGFiVmZaelpqQTk4bkk0bVJhZGJCWE9mUC1IZXZRbmcyNDguMTAuMy01LjAuOQ/aura_prod.js:103:67615"
- Resolution: We removed unnecessary libraries, which were loading even though they were not in use anymore, to fix both issues.
- Description: Previously, when a user tried to send bulk SMS from a campaign record, they received the following error. Also, when they clicked Done, the screen did not update.
- Enhancement | Refreshing a Sandbox Will Not Interrupt the Production Account
- Description: Refreshing a sandbox caused the Account and API Key to be cloned, which caused problems with the related production account in the BT Base package and Messaging app.
- Resolution: Using the production Account and API Key in the refreshed sandbox is now restricted. If a user tries to open the Messaging Admin tab after the Sandbox was refreshed, they will see the following error.
Blackthorn Catalog (previously Storefront)
- Enhancement | Form Builder Tab: The Store page layout now includes a tab for the BT Form Builder. After clicking the tab, users can edit existing BT Forms related to the Store on the Store record. If a user clicks the BT Form Builder tab when no BT Forms are associated with the Store, they will see the following message: “There is no Form associated with this Store.”
- Webapp Enhancement: We updated the code in Catalog to prevent robots and website crawlers (such as search engines) from accessing and indexing Catalog web pages, preventing certain Catalog information from appearing in web search results.

- Zoom Breaking Change: The Zoom Registration Approval Type (Zoom_Registration_Approval_Type__c) field was added to the Event object in response to Zoom’s update on April 22, 2024. Previously, Zoom meetings generated during Event creation required a guest to authenticate to join the meeting. (Known Issue: 000003320)

- The Zoom Registration Approval Type field is not automatically added to the Event page layout. Click here for detailed steps to add the field and set a value to auto-approve / manually approve registrations.
- Experience Cloud | Community Profile Users: When using Event components in the Experience Cloud, Community Profile users can access Attendee Reports and will no longer experience redirecting issues. Please note that users need access to the Blackthorn | Events Reports folder to use the Lightning Quick Actions for different reports.

Blackthorn Events
- NEW FEATURE | Express Registration (Part of Digital Experience): When enabled, Express Registration allows registered Attendees logged into a Digital Experience to register any other Contact in their Account with just a few clicks. (Please note that additional Event Items are only available if the Event organizer has not set a `Max Quantity` for an Event Item.)Users with vision impairments can use the Express Registration feature with only their keyboard, including opening the picklist, tabbing through the list, making a selection, and changing their selection.
- Webapp Enhancement: Attendees can now add virtual Events to a calendar from the registration success page. Previously, this was only possible for in-person Events or from the AttendeeLink.
- Webapp Enhancement: When an Attendee uses a duplicate email address to register for a waitlisted Event where One Unique Attendee Email Per Event = “True” (checked) on the Event Settings, then the error message will say, “Duplicate Registration email not allowed.” Previously, the user saw a generic error message without explaining the problem. - Default ticket selection: Help your attendees zoom through registration! Event Organizers can use the new Event Item’s Default Quantity Selection field to define the default quantity for Tickets, Guest Tickets, or Products that are automatically added to the cart when an Attendee reaches the ticket selection step.
When an organizer enters a value in the Event Item’s Default Quantity Selection field, and the Event Item isn’t sold out, the default quantity is automatically added to the cart the first time an Attendee reaches the ticket selection screen.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If a potential Attendee receives an invitation with an AttendeeLink and goes to the Event webpage from the AttendeeLink to purchase Tickets, Guest Tickets, or Products, the current behavior will occur. The new Default Quantity Selection functionality will not be applied, and the Default Quantity Selection value will not be added to the cart.
- Encourage attendees to share your event on social media: Click the Share button to generate a URL for Attendees to share Events on LinkedIn, X/Twitter, or Facebook. The shareable link includes metadata like image, title, and description. Clicking the Share button opens a window with a sharable link and buttons for each platform. When you click the LinkedIn, X/Twitter, or Facebook button, the following happens.
- LinkedIn: Enter a message to accompany the link and click Post.
- X/Twitter: Use the following message: “I am looking forward to attending [Event Name] – you can check it out here: [event social URL]”) or edit it and click Post.

- Authorize.net: If a user tries to save a new Payment Method with an incorrect zip code on an Authorize.net gateway, they will receive an error message letting them know that the Address Verification Security (AVS) failed and the Payment Method will not be saved. Thank you customers! You allow us to give back
Blackthorn is delighted to support the efforts of Watsi…
Watsi is a nonprofit organization that uses technology to make healthcare accessible to everyone, particularly those in developing countries who do not have access to affordable medical care. The organization’s mission is to fight the traditionally high costs of healthcare by working with doctors, providers, and payors to donate their time, research, materials, and equipment to reduce overhead.
Watsi offers a crowdfunding platform that allows donors to make direct, personal connections with their beneficiaries and donate as little as $5 or as much as they want. Watsi offers 100 percent of the donations it collects from the crowd to the person in need, specifically to fund their medical treatments. For every dollar given, Watsi aims to provide healthcare to those who need it.

October Release Notes
Blackthorn Events
- Pre-Checkout Details and Ticket Selection: This update is a potential breaking change for those using a workaround to solve this issue. Pre-checkout details will now appear during Ticket selection, and checkout details will appear on the Contact Information/Payment screen. Previously, pre-checkout details and checkout details were swapped, causing problems when completing the registration process. (Known Issue: 000003851)
- Event Settings: When an Attendee registers a group, they can now click the Copy related info to all the responses button to copy their Form responses to all Attendees in the group if the new Allow Form Responses for Attendee Group field is set to “Yes.” The new field removes the repeated copy-paste step and decreases the time it takes to register everyone.
- Forms must be identical and have the same Form record ID.
- The Copy related info to all the responses button will only be displayed if the first Event Item shown has custom questions.
- Accessibility: Default values were added to the Sponsor’s Alternative Text for Visual Impairment and Speaker’s Alternative Text for Visual Impairment fields to save time during Event creation. Note: Default values can be overwritten.
- Sponsor: Alternative Text for Visual Impairment = “[Sponsor Display Name] logo”.
- Speaker: Alternative Text for Visual Impairment = “Portrait of [Contact First Name] [Contact Last Name]”.
For more information on these enhancements and a full list of bug fixes, please click the Events Release Notes button.
Blackthorn Payments
- Payment Schedules: When a Transaction’s Transaction Status is set to “Failed,” the related Payment Schedule field Schedule Status will be set to “Failed,” and Payment Status will be set to “Overdue.” Previously, the Schedule Status was set to “Future,” and the Payment Status was set to “Scheduled.” Click here for more information about the statuses and their definitions. (Known Issue: 000002805)
- Virtual Terminal: Users searching for a Payment Method in the LWC Virtual Terminal will see identifying information such as the Payment Method’s Holder’s Name, Email, or Last 4 Digits, depending on the Payment Method type and available information. Previously, the user saw the Payment Method’s numeric Salesforce name (E.g., PM0000001, PM0000002, etc.), making it difficult to locate the correct Payment Method. (Known Issue: 000003097)
- Custom Settings: When the Blackthorn Pay – Trigger Settings custom setting Enable Payment Intents for ACH PMs = “True” (checked), hidden fields remain hidden, and mapping works as expected. Previously, if the custom setting was checked, hidden fields were visible, mapping broke, and users received a Terminal Data Initialization Error. (Known Issue: 000003932)

Blackthorn Bits: Event Registration from Slack
Use Case:
This feature is particularly useful for organizations that want to simplify the registration process for internal teams or customers using Slack. It allows users to register new attendees with minimal friction, while ensuring immediate follow-up with an SMS confirmation. For example, if your team manages multiple free events, enabling registration directly within Slack reduces the need for external tools and provides a streamlined, in-app experience for both the customer and staff.
Here’s what we did:
- Slack Integration: We set up an integration allowing event registrations to be triggered directly from Slack.
- SMS Confirmation: Once the registration is complete, an automated SMS confirmation is sent to the attendee via Blackthorn Messaging.
- Automated Flow: A simple flow triggers the SMS confirmation as soon as the attendee registers, providing a smooth, real-time experience.
Demo Video |
Please note: This custom use case is a proof of concept and is not included as part of our standard managed packages. While we encourage you to explore the full potential of our apps, building out this specific use case would be your responsibility and will require custom development on your end.

September Release General Announcement
A note from Andrea Adcock, Chief Product Officer
In August, we celebrated the release of many long-awaited new features and introduced Blackthorn Storefront. We are now taking measures to reduce delays within our monthly release process. These measures will scale to meet the growth of our products and restore our release cadence.
Immediate Actions:
- September Release: Our September Events release shipped without Data Persistence enabled. In this way, our team can continue final testing on this critical feature without further delays in delivering the September monthly release. Once final testing is complete, an early access program will make Data Persistence available to a select customer audience.
- October Release: The October Events release is being streamlined to include only critical bug fixes and our generally available release of the Data Persistence feature. This step reduces the scope of testing for our Quality team and lets us close the gap on release cadence.
Long-term Solutions:
- Quarterly Planning: Teamwide quarterly planning will provide for more holistic resource and dependency planning.
- Continuous Integration Improvements: The Blackthorn portfolio now includes 12 different Salesforce Managed packages and 17 active webapps, services, Node packages, and mobile applications. We are experiencing a growing number of technical dependencies and other complexities with each release that impact development, quality, and release. These factors frequently roll-up to create delays during final testing. We are working on a cross-product continuous integration system that will detect and resolve issues sooner in the development cycle to prevent last minute delays.
We truly appreciate your understanding and patience as we work diligently to bring our software releases back on track. If you have any questions or would like more detailed information regarding our plan, please feel free to contact me – andrea@blackthorn.io.
Minor Update Release Notes
Blackthorn Events
- Campaign Sync Update: Users can now add Attendees from a Campaign on the Event’s Attendees tab, the Add Attendees button on the Campaign, and via the Event Auto-Sync field on the Campaign. In each scenario, the BT Event Attendee Duplicate Rule will be respected, and no duplicate records will be created. Previously, if One Unique Email Per Event = “False” and one or more campaign members were already Event Attendees, then duplicate Attendee records were created.
- Event Builder Update for Webinars: When using the Event Builder, users can now click Reuse Webinar Information from Event to copy webinar details from an Event record to a Session record. Previously, this option was present, but it was not functional. NOTE: This feature is a one-time shortcut. It does not set up an ongoing sync between the Event’s and Session’s webinar details.
- Big List Fix for Dynamic UI: A Form Big List Option will now load when registering for an Event that uses the Dynamic UI. Previously, Form Big List Options did not load. The other Event UI options were not affected. (Known Issue: 000002978)
Blackthorn Payments
Payment Gateway Object Update The following fields were added to the Payment Gateway object.
- Field Name: TouchNet uPay Site ID
- API Name:
bt_stripe__TouchNet_uPay_Site_ID__c - Data Type: Text(15)
- Field Name: TouchNet uPay Site URL
- API Name:
bt_stripe__TouchNet_uPay_Site_URL__c - Text(255)
- CVC Optional Feature for Virtual Terminal: A new custom setting called Make CVC Field Optional has been added to the Blackthorn Payments | Virtual Terminal custom settings. This setting allows users to make the CVC field optional when adding a new credit card Payment Method in the Virtual Terminal. The default setting is for the CVC field to be required.
Blackthorn Messaging
- Improvements on A2P Submission Process: The A2P submission process is crucial for businesses and organizations that send automated messages to users’ phone numbers. To enhance this process, we added a new step called Account Activation that will occur between the Account Registration and Phone Number Setup steps.
- Validating A2P Details: Validating A2P details is a crucial step that occurs when sending automated messages to users via platforms like Twilio. This step includes reviewing and verifying the information provided by the business or organization who intends to use the A2P messaging services.
- Searching Phone Numbers: During Twilio’s review and approval period, users can search for and use Phone Numbers by utilizing toll-free phone numbers. This feature ensures that businesses can continue their operations and prepare for A2P messaging without causing any interruptions.

When logged into our customer community, when viewing one of your cases, you can actually click into the Case Comments Related List and Wrap Text on the Comment Tab. Here is a video on how to do this!
- Previously customers were only able to reopen cases via email to case. We have added a new feature where Community Users can reopen a case right from our customer community. Please note if case was closed more than 7 days ago, a new case should be submitted using our support request form found here.

Blackthorn Events
Advanced Visibility (Early Access)
Advanced Visibility allows Event Organizers to leverage Contact or Person Account data to control visibility and eligibility within the Experience Cloud or an authenticated iframe. Please open a case with Blackthorn Support to enable Advanced Visibility.
The feature uses rules with specific criteria to determine who can see and register for Events, Event Items, and Sessions. In tandem with Express Registration, Advanced Visibility helps Attendees find and register for relevant Events faster. Discover some of Advanced Visibilities’ benefits.
- Flexible Rule Creation: Creates different rules for each Event, a single rule for multiple Events, or any combination.
- Customizable Eligibility: Tailor your Attendees’ visibility experiences with options like Extend Visibility to Account and Extend Eligibility to Account.
- Compatibility with Visibility Controls: Seamlessly integrate Advanced Visibility with existing Visibility Controls, allowing for flexible configurations.
Overlapping Sessions
Event Organizers can now prevent Attendees from registering for overlapping Sessions. This functionality allows for a more organized and manageable registration experience and ensures that Event resources like Session seats and Event spaces are used effectively.
Matching and Duplication
Attendees can now register for multiple Events with identical names. The BT Events Attendee Matching Rule was updated to use an Event_ID instead of the Event Name to distinguish between Events. The registration process will also be successful if the BT Event Attendee Duplicate Rule’s Action on Create is set to “Block.” Previously, when Attendees registered for multiple Events with identical names, duplicate Attendee records were created. And if the BT Event Attendee Duplicate Rule’s Action on Create was set to “Block,” no Attendee records were created. NOTE: To use this new matching rule immediately, please make sure it is selected. (Known Issue: 000003791)
Potential Change in Default Behavior
If you have an Event that no longer shows expired Tickets/event-ended banners, but the expired Tickets/event-ended banners were previously visible, check the Show Expired Tickets field on the Event Settings record.
Previously, the Show Expired Tickets field’s default behavior was not respected, causing Tickets with a Sales End Date in the past to appear in the list of available Tickets, even though Show Expired Tickets was set to “False” (unchecked).
When the Event Settings Show Expired Tickets setting is set to “False” (unchecked), Event Items with a Sales End Date in the past will not appear in the list of purchasable Tickets. If Show Expired Tickets is set to “True,” and the Event Item’s Sales End Date is in the past, the Ticket will be visible but will have a label stating that it is not for sale. (Known Issue: 000003154)
- Permission Sets: The new permission set, Blackthorn | Payments (Lite User), was created. Users with this permission set have read-only access to all BT Payments objects and standard Salesforce functionality, such as reports and dashboards. Note: Users with this permission set cannot use packaged actions such as capturing Transactions, processing Refunds, etc.
- Virtual Terminal: When the Virtual Terminal is in Lite Mode, input parameters will be correctly mapped when embedding the LWC Virtual Terminal in a screen flow. Previously, the input parameters were not mapped to the Virtual Terminal fields. (Known Issue: 000003009)
For more information on these enhancements and a full list of bug fixes, please click the Payments Release Notes button.
